Joseph “Neil” Adams

Joseph “Neil” Adams, age 87, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.  Born on December 21, 1937, in Willmar, Minnesota to Robert and Marcella Adams, Neil lived a life centered on family, faith and service to others.

Neil was the fiercely devoted husband of Evelyn (Dawson) Adams for 65 years, a partnership grounded in unwavering love, loyalty, and shared purpose. Together they raised four children, who were the pride and joy of his life: Stephen Adams (Bonnie), Susan Bos (Dan), Jennifer Price (Mark), and Amy Sanders (Mark).  Neil’s legacy lives on through his ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and through his siblings:  Mary Quinn, Margaret Mayerle (Paul), Patricia Gulbrandsen (Steve), and Michael Adams (Holly).

After serving honorably in the U.S. Navy, Neil embarked on a long and successful career in sales and sales management with Monsanto, where he distinguished himself as a respected leader and colleague and was one of few employees to ever win Monsanto’s national Master Salesman award twice.   The secret to his remarkable sales record was simple:  he genuinely liked and looked out for his customers, and they were loyal to him in return.

While working full-time and raising a young family, Neil demonstrated his dedication to enhancing prospects for himself and his family by taking night classes for years to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mankato State University.  In addition to formal schooling, Neil contin ued to grow and challenge himself and to develop new viewpoints and capabilities until the very end of his life.

Beyond his dedication to family and career, Neil was passionate about golf and the people he met through it.   Although he never fulfilled his dream of becoming a scratch golfer, he did make four holes-in-one, coined a number of memorable phrases (some of them repeatable in polite company) and developed great friendships in the pursuit.

Neil was a man of strong, quiet faith whose belief in God guided his decisions and shaped his character. Without seeking attention, he stepped up to help as needed, whether by coaching kids' teams, working with service organizations, or simply supporting his family and friends. His charisma and gift for storytelling were unmatched; he could light up a room and leave everyone laughing.  He connected with people easily, remembering names and personal details without fail, and was a great and empathetic listener.  Those who knew him will forever remember and miss his humor, his kindness, and his unforgettable laugh.

Neil will have a military burial at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 11463 State Highway 195 in Killeen, Texas, followed by a Celebration of Life from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm May 22, 2026 at Sun City’s Cowan Creek Amenity Center at 1433 Cowan Creek Drive, Georgetown, Texas.   In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Wounded Warriors in his honor.

While Neil will be deeply missed by all who loved him, his family takes comfort in knowing he left the world better than he found it—and that he is now at peace.
