Betty Westfall Gordon peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 6, 2026, at The Light and Love Wellness Lighthouse in Milano, Texas.
Betty was born on November 6, 1935, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, to Mary Kate and William Sydney Westfall. During her childhood, her family lived in several communities throughout Mississippi before eventually settling in Texas, primarily in Houston. She grew up alongside her three younger siblings: Becky, Billy, and Bobby.
From a young age, Betty had a love of learning. She was an avid reader who enjoyed theater and drama throughout her school years. She graduated from Reagan High School (now Heights High School) in Houston in June 1953 and briefly attended the University of Mary Hardin–Baylor before meeting the love of her life, James Gordon. They were married on March 4, 1955, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned more than 71 years. Betty dedicated her entire career to education as a high school registrar, a role she genuinely loved. She took great pride in serving students, families, and faculty.
While Betty enjoyed her work, her deepest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, David (Jackie) and Cindy (Joe); her grandchildren, Danny (Kristen), Laura (Britt), Andrew (Jennifer), and Emily (Nate); and her great-grandchildren, Xavier, Kayanna, Kaedynce, Aiden, Tyler, Dylan, Elise, Isaiah, Adleigh, and Rynleigh. She is also survived by her sister, Becky Kuithe; her brother, Bob Westfall; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Westfall; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Kennedy Gordon II; her parents, Mary Kate and William Sydney Westfall; her brother, Bill Westfall; and her nephew, Jeffrey Kuithe.
Betty will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, treasured grandmother and great-grandmother, caring sister, and faithful aunt. Above all, she loved Jesus and her husband Jim. She cherished every moment spent with her family and faithfully served and worshiped alongside her church family at First Methodist Church of Georgetown. Her faith and steadfast love will continue to be reflected in the lives of all who knew her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Ashley Frei, Aubrey Layne, Patsy, the Acara Hospice team, and the staff of The Light and Love Wellness Lighthouse for the compassionate and loving care they provided to Betty during her final days. Your kindness brought comfort, peace, and dignity not only to Betty but to our entire family as she was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven. We will forever be grateful for the exceptional care and love you showed her. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
