As we prepare to welcome students back for a new school year, there is a sense of excitement across Georgetown ISD. Our campuses have been anything but quiet this summer. Teachers, campus leaders, and staff have been preparing classrooms, refining instruction, welcoming new team members, planning engaging learning experiences, and making sure our schools are ready to serve every student. When families walk through our doors next week, they will see the result of that work and the care and commitment behind it.
That excitement is especially meaningful as we celebrate the recent release of state accountability results. Our B-rated district is outperforming districts across the state and received designations for Top 25% Academic Growth, English Language Arts and Post-Secondary Readiness. The data reflects important growth across our district and, most importantly, the hard work of our students and the teachers and campus leaders who supported them throughout the past school year. These results are worth celebrating because they represent progress. At the same time, we know that excellence in academics is not a destination. It is an expectation, and the work continues this year with the same focus, urgency, and commitment to helping every student reach their potential.
That commitment to excellence is reflected in the strategic priorities our Board of Trustees has established as part of our vision for 2030.
Our first priority is excellence in academics. We want every student to experience appropriately challenging instruction and have the opportunity to succeed at high levels. The growth reflected in this year's STAAR results gives us momentum, but it also challenges us to keep improving, keep learning, and keep raising expectations.
Our second priority is student connection and belonging. We know that academic success is only part of the equation. Students are more likely to thrive when they feel known, valued, supported, and connected to their school community. Our Board's vision for 2030 recognizes that every student should have a place where they belong and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships that support their success.
Our third priority is exceptional staff experiences. None of this is possible without the dedicated teachers, campus leaders, and staff members who show up every day committed to the success of every student. Their work is the foundation of everything we accomplish. That is why our Board has been exploring ways to increase revenue through a tax rate election to provide meaningful raises for our staff. Investing in our people is ultimately an investment in our students and the future of Georgetown ISD.
And finally, we know that educating a child requires the support of an entire village which is reflected in our fourth priority area: partnering with our community. Georgetown does this better than any place I've had the privilege to serve. Our schools are stronger because of the partnerships we have with families, businesses, organizations, civic leaders, and community members who believe in the power of public education.
Those partnerships help shape opportunities for our students, strengthen our schools, and contribute to the kind of community we all want Georgetown to be. To everyone who invests their time, resources, encouragement, and trust in Georgetown ISD: thank you.
As we begin another school year, I am excited about what lies ahead. We have strong momentum, a clear vision for where we're going, and an extraordinary team committed to getting there. Most importantly, we have students who are ready to learn, grow, lead, and make their mark on our community.
The new school year is here. And together, we are ready.
