Judith “Judy” Anne Miller
Judith “Judy” Anne Miller passed away peacefully at her home in Sun City Texas on March 29, 2023, at the age of 75 due to congestive heart failure. She was born May 1, 1947, in New London, Connecticut, to Richard Schenberger and Vivian Schenberger, both of whom preceded her in death. Her family moved to North Kansas City, Missouri, later that year. She was the eldest among her siblings - Bette Smith (Dave), Robert Schenberger (Janice) and Nancy Weins, all of whom continue to reside in the Greater Kansas City area.
Judy graduated in 1965 from Abilene High School in Abilene, Kansas, before heading to Emporia State University, where she pledged Delta Zeta sorority and met the love of her life, Keith Miller at a Greek pajama party mixer. They were married on June 24, 1967, at First Presbyterian Church in Abilene, Kansas. In 1968, Judy and Keith moved to Johnson County, Kansas, where they raised their two children. Judy was able to retire at the age of 56 from her 17-year career at Farmer’s Insurance, after which she and Keith moved to Georgetown, Texas, in January 2004. Although Judy was not from Texas, she got there as fast as she could! Until her health conditions made it too difficult, Judy was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, helping with communion on Sunday mornings.
In addition to her husband, Judy is survived by her son, Philip Miller, daughter, Jill Seay, son-in-law, Shane Seay and three grandsons, Alexander Seay, Zachary Seay and Jonathan Seay. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. This was evident by the number of years she spent at home with them, at times with no transportation or air-conditioning! As a loving and devoted mother first and foremost, she always volunteered to help out at all of her children’s activities growing up. She especially loved being a grandmother and wished she could have spent more time with them.
Judy was also a longtime member of the International Order of Job’s Daughters, both as a youth and later as an adult. It is a Masonic youth organization that was near and dear to her heart and she enjoyed making a difference in the lives of many young girls. She was honored to be elected as the Grand Guardian of the State of Kansas in 1997.
Judy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and cooking for others. She also loved shopping and gambling, so Keith will probably save a lot of money in the coming years. In her final days, she spoke of dancing and traveling, wishing she had done more of both. She was grateful for the time and adventures she had, especially the trip to Hawaii with Keith and their friends in 2007. She was a talker with a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh - even her hospital nurses and aides. Judy will be missed by many.
