Noble “Ray” Owen
Noble “Ray” Owen
Noble “Ray” Owen was born on October 26, 1944, in Van Nuys, California, to William Thomas and Doraeen Vic Owen. He peacefully passed away on May 15, 2025, at the age of 80 years.
Ray served in the United States Navy from 1966-1970 as a Hospital Corpsman and received an honorable discharge. He was referred to as “Doc” by service members. He served in the Vietnam war and received two Purple Hearts. Upon returning to Lubbock, he served in the Navy Reserves. He worked at Methodist Hospital as a Patient Services Manager then moved into the automobile industry holding positions as finance manager, new car sales manager and as an independent sales contractor. He married Linda Hough in 1980. He and his family moved to Round Rock, Texas, and then to Georgetown, Texas. Ray was a disabled veteran and moved to a care center for three years prior to his death at his home under hospice care.
Ray is survived by his wife, Linda of Georgetown, a sister, Billie Jones of McKinney, a brother, Burley Owen of Lubbock, sister-in-law Trish McKenna, son, Jarod Owen, daughter, Jennifer Thompson and husband Michael; grandchildren Corwin T., Owen T., Gavin T., Aishellyn T. and other family members, nieces and nephews.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Bobby and Ruth Hough, brother-in-law Bud, sister-in-law Margie, sister-in-law Vicki and brother-in-law Matt M.
Ray was a member of the Hill Country Bible Church and a former member of the First Baptist Church, both in Georgetown, Texas.
Ray was most happy when he was doing yard work, watching football and Nascar races. Early on he loved watching Jen play basketball and tennis. He enjoyed watching Jarod play whatever sport was in season! But mostly baseball. A highlight was when the grandkids came along and there were trips to South Carolina and Georgia. We had great times at the beach! He was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren. Lastly, he was always ornery and loved to tease. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Alzheimer’s Association.
