Virginia Sue Simms Davis

Virginia Sue Simms Davis, 87, passed away peacefully in Georgetown, Texas, on September 28, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pickton, Texas on February 6, 1939, to Florine Mattingly Simms and Thomas Lewis Simms. She graduated from Irving High School, earned a degree in Christian Education from Southwestern University in Georgetown. On July 8, 1961 Virginia married Bennie Davis of Andice at Southwestern. She spent 15 years as a rural mail carrier. Virginia was an active member of the United Methodist Church. She served as a lay speaker, Stephen Minister, chancel and handbell choir director, Sunday school teacher, SPRC member, Annual Conference delegate, and in many other positions. Virginia and Bennie were both active in the Walk to Emmaus community. They loved traveling the world and were avid sports fans, but Virginia most enjoyed working on the farm. Survivors include her children Susan Hammond (husband,Don) of Austin; Gary Davis (wife, Laura) of Andice; Gina Ivens (husband, Billy) of Andice; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; Geraldine Mendez (sister) of Dallas; and Richard Simms (brother) and his wife, Betty, of Denton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Marshall (Doc) Davis, her sister-in-law, Evelyn, and brother-in-law, Craig Davis, and brother-in-law, Al Mendez. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on October 9, 2026 at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown. A service of celebration is scheduled for Saturday, October 10 at 10:00 at St. John’s Methodist Church of Georgetown.
