Fiddler on the Roof at the Palace Theatre

“Without our traditions, our lives would be as shaky as a fiddler on the roof.”The Georgetown Palace Theatre opened Fiddler on the Roof on May 30 at the historic Springer Stage. The enthusiastic, sold-out audience was rewarded with a superb performance.

Speaker honors fallen through storytelling

At the annual Memorial Day ceremony at Sun City, this year’s keynote speaker — Major Jay Lardizabal, U.S. Army, Retired — spoke about honoring those who gave their life for their country, not through recounting how they died, but through stories that honor their legacy.

Wheat harvest time in Williamson County

A few years ago, after my lungs were straining after breathing in massive amounts of dust, I said that was the last time I’d do photographs during a wheat harvest. The fault was of my own making.

East View grads get diplomas

Four hundred eighty-nine East View High school seniors received their diplomas at the Georgetown ISD Athletic Complex on Friday, May 23.

Golden opportunity with this year’s wheat harvest

Several years ago, photographing a wheat harvest near Bartlett, I was riding in a combine with a farmer as he navigated his equipment through a field. The late-day light gracing the golden crop was so inspiring, I asked if it was okay to get out and document it from the field.

Fishing for smiles

The 22nd Annual Senior Fishing Tournament was held at Taylor’s SPJST Senior Living on Thursday, April 24.   A large tank was brought in, filled with water and loaded with 400 pounds of catfish.  Volunteers and staff were on hand to help with the fish as they were caught.
