Senate Bill would open door to more multifamily units

One of Governor Greg Abbott’s priority bills this legislative session is Senate Bill 840, which would allow multifamily housing to be built in areas with commercial, industrial or mixed-use zoning.

Sign up for spring, summer camps

Georgetown’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting spring break or summer programs, and registration opens at 8 a.m. Monday, February 3, for residents and nonresidents. Summer camp registration will not open until March. Register online at https://georgetowntexas.gov/parks/programs/camps.

Mayor addresses growth demands, rising costs

New downtown event plaza begins to take shape

Construction is underway, as Georgetown converts the area between the Light and Waterworks building and the Georgetown Public Library into an event space that will have a stage, event lawn shade structure and food truck parking area.

Growth, housing and economic development

To start every year, Georgetown City Council reviews the city’s strategic vision, plan and rules of governance. For 2025, council is keeping the same strategic priority areas as last year: growth, economic development, governance, downtown, housing and risk management.

Update: City opens offices back up on January 22

Update: The city is reopening its offices that were closed due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day and inclement weather. Additionally, Texas Disposal Systems customers will have their trash and recycling pickup days pushed back one day. For example, Tuesday pickup will be on Wednesday.

Georgetown distributes grant funds

After a reevaluation of Georgetown’s Strategic Partnerships for Community Services grant program, city council January 14 reallocated funds and distributed the money to 11 nonprofits.
