Off-duty Georgetown firefighter dies in motorcycle crash

An off-duty Georgetown firefighter was involved in a fatal crash while driving Friday morning, April 11, on Highway 29 west of Wolf Ranch Parkway. The firefighter, Kurt Lentz, was taken by ambulance to Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital, where he died shortly before 10 a.m.

Development seeks city support for roads, utilities

Developers behind a proposed 620-acre, mixed-use subdivision in the northwest corner of Georgetown’s extraterritorial jurisdiction are working to become a Public Improvement District with the city to help fund public utility and roadway infrastructure.

State of the City address: preparing for city growth

Residents had an opportunity to learn the latest about Georgetown city projects and efforts and hear from city officials during the 2025 State of the City event and address Thursday, March 27.

Rules for historic demolitions weighed

Georgetown’s Historic Architecture Review Commission is working with city staff to update policies about demolitions in the historic district.

New Habitat for Humanity development brings 12 new homes

Georgetown City Council approved a build permit March 6 for a new 1-acre development that will include 12 new homes built by Williamson County Habitat for Humanity. The Shepherd’s Village development will be located in Southeast Georgetown between 21st and 22nd streets.

Slew of traffic light projects underway in Georgetown

Three new traffic lights along Ronald Reagan Boulevard are in various stages of completion. The traffic light at the Ronald Reagan and Sun City Boulevard intersection will be updated by the city. The intersection is also part of Williamson County’s Ronald Reagan Boulevard Widening project.

City staff works with legislators to reduce local impact

There’s less than a month left for state legislators to file bills for the 89th Legislative Session, and Georgetown’s city staff is already tracking more than 1,000 bills on their “watch list” because of the potential impacts to the city’s residents.
