Georgetown city staff reviews long-term funds to avoid deficit

Based on a multi-year forecast for Georgetown’s General Fund, Georgetown City Manager David Morgan said city expenses will exceed revenues over the next three fiscal years without “due diligence.” The General Fund is the city’s primary operating fund.

Georgetown City Council members take their seats on the dais

Three Georgetown City Council members were sworn into their positions on Tuesday, May 13. Council Member Ben Butler began his first term, while Ron Garland and Ben Stewart are now in their second terms of service.

Keeping an eye on development, zoning bills

The final bills of the 2025 Texas Legislature are up for discussion with less than 25 days left in the session. Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder said this year the city has had a greater impact on legislative actions than in the past due to city staff ’s work with state representatives.

City of Georgetown to disinfect water system with chlorine

Georgetown will perform system-wide maintenance on the city’s water system from May 27 until June 27. During this time, Georgetown water customers might notice chlorine odors and a green or brown tint in their water for short time periods.Customers could start noticing the changes on May 27 or 28.

Georgetown City Council comes to decision on library future plans

With demand for services and space on the rise, Georgetown City Council indicated it will prioritize renovating and expanding the Georgetown Public Library downtown before exploring options for potential micro-branches around the city.

HARC rejects facade changes again

For the third time in as many years, Georgetown’s Historic Architectural Review Commission denied a facade change to the retail building just off the Square at 817 South Austin Avenue.

Georgetown City council ponders which grass is greener

The future layout for San Gabriel Park will include nine baseball diamonds, more than 15 soccer field configurations and two sand volleyball courts. The layout update represents the fourth phase of renovations at the park, which were presented to Georgetown City Council April 8.

City aims to improve drainage, sidewalks with county grants

The City of Georgetown will apply for a county grant with more than $1.2 million in projects listed to address development needs for low to moderate income residents.
