Georgetown City Council to raise maximum Square building heights

As part of the continued discussion around building heights in the downtown area, Georgetown City Council provided city staff direction to raise the allowed building height in the outer parts of the nineblock Square from 40 feet.

New three-story building headed downtown

A groundbreaking ceremony for a three-story mixed-use building on the corner of Sixth Street and Austin Avenue occurred Thursday, February 22.

Rock Street promenade takes shape

As part of Georgetown’s ongoing discussions about the Downtown Master Plan, Georgetown City Council heard updates about a plan to create a Rock Street promenade that would include a large public walkway.

Georgetown City Council discuss changes to downtown

Georgetown City Council looked at redesign options for the areas in downtown Georgetown that would alter traffic flow, remove some parking spaces and create a flexible festival street on Main Street.

As holidays approach, support local spots

Georgetown businesses and restaurants will offer holiday shopping and dining specials as part of the annual Small Business Saturday event on November 25, the day after Black Friday. This day in November gives shoppers the opportunity to support local and small businesses.

Georgetown council approves historic home tax exemption

Historic homes primarily in the Old Town and downtown areas doing certain outdoor repairs of $10,000 or more will receive a tax exemption starting at 25 percent. The program was approved on its first reading during the regular meeting of Georgetown City Council at its September 12 meeting.

Downtown Georgetown street closures make way for removable bollards

Update: This story has been updated with additional information. Downtown Georgetown has closed multiple streets since Wednesday, June 7, as construction crews install removable bollards throughout downtown.
