Georgetown celebrates MLK Jr. Day with parade, program

Georgetown resident Sharon Maynard was one of dozens of people who gathered outside the Williamson County Courthouse for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade Monday, January 16. “I’ve never marched before, but I wanted to come out to try to make a difference,” Ms. Maynard said.

Georgetown City Council reviews parking garage designs

After receiving feedback from Georgetown’s Historical and Architectural Review Commission about the city’s incoming downtown parking garage, city council members showed support for designs that were shorter than those initially presented.  Design details for the garage — planned for 0.

Georgetown receives feedback from public, council on Downtown Master Plan

The public received an overview of the city’s upcoming work to create a new Downtown Master Plan Tuesday, January 10.  “We’re here to talk about the Downtown Master Plan update and where we’re at in that process,” Downtown and Tourism Director Kim McAuliffe said.

Georgetown’s Main Street program celebrates 40 years

Preserving and revitalizing Georgetown’s Main Street was a daunting task in the 1980s. With a dwindling tourism industry and developments making Austin the hot area in Central Texas, Georgetown city staff turned to the Texas Main Street Program to help bring life back to the downtown area.

Mural in downtown Georgetown sparks controversy

A new mural tucked away in the alleyway between two buildings on Seventh Street in downtown Georgetown has stirred up controversy.
