Downtown Georgetown nominated for state awards

Four projects in downtown Georgetown are among the finalists for Texas Downtown’s 2025 President’s Awards program. The program, according to the city, recognizes “outstanding” projects, people and places of Texas downtowns.

Taiwanese company expands tech jobs in Georgetown

Taiwanese electronic manufacturer, Pegatron, that specializes in making consumer electronics, computing and communications for major brands will bring hundreds of tech jobs to Georgetown, 100 of which must be filled within the first three years of operation.

New Körk manager hopes to elevate palates, offer experiences

Visitors to the Square who stop into Körk Wine Bar are likely to find something new. There’s a new general manager in town, and the business now makes a point to only stock wines that aren’t offered anywhere else.

Sculpture Tour winners: Learn about Georgetown’s newest downtown art

The City of Georgetown Arts and Culture Board has awarded Pascale Pryor first prize in the 2025-26 Sculpture Tour, a juried year-long outdoor exhibit in the Downtown Georgetown Cultural District.Ms. Pryor won for “Chameleon,” an interactive piece made from steel and automotive paint.

Georgetown pre-school owner wins state women’s service award

A 27-year career running Mrs. Mac’s Shining Stars preschool on Leander Road has earned owner Linda McCasland one of Texas’s top honors.The Yellow Rose of Texas service award for women is presented by the governor’s office to highlight “exceptional community service.

Georgetown welcomes new planning director

Edgar Garcia will be Georgetown’s new planning director starting November 3. He replaces former Planning Director Sofia Nelson, whose last day with the city was July 3. She was with the city for nearly 10 years.

First phase of SU 560 plan gets commercial zoning approval

Southwestern University will have to conduct a traffic mobility study exploring possible traffic impacts caused by its proposed SU 560 redevelopment plan. Georgetown City Council approved a rezoning request by the university on Tuesday, October 14.
