Tastes of the Town: Kombucha: It’s Alive!

Occasionally my husband prepares a fermented drink from living organisms and our kitchen takes on the look of a mad scientist’s lab. SCOBY, Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast, is the living culture. This host is fed tea and sugar and fermentation produces an effervescent kombucha drink.

Eagle scout continues family tradition

Dustin Zippe Ford was promoted to an Eagle Scout with Troop 405 over the winter. He represents the Troop’s 202nd Eagle Scout. His two older brothers, Garrett and Kyle were the Troop’s 153rd and 154th Eagle Scouts. He is the son of Rollie and Lori Ford.

Crosspoint Church, others invite community to Easter festivities

Bring out your baskets and get ready for an Easter Eggstravaganza. Hosted by Crosspoint Church the weekend before Easter Sunday, the annual rain or shine event begins at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 1, at the church, 3800 Shell Road in Georgetown.
