Over 800 celebrate ROCK at Barn Dance

Ride on Center for Kids saw record turnout for the nonprofit’s annual Barn Dance this past Saturday, April 1.
The equine-assisted therapy center estimated over 800 guests for the night of dinner, dancing and entertainment, and welcomed a packed house.

Fred Brent, superintendent of Georgetown ISD since 2014, said Monday, April 3, he will officially retire from the district on June 30. He plans to serve in an advisory capacity as “superintendent emeritus” from May 1 to June 30.

Garey Park receives $20 million from namesake’s estate for updates

Improvements are on the horizon for Georgetown’s Garey Park thanks to a $20 million donation from namesake Jack Garey’s estate.
Details of the financial gift were presented to city council by Parks and Recreation Director Kimberly Garrett during a March 28 workshop.
