New BiG residential community takes shape in Weir

Construction is underway at Grace Place, the new residential community that will serve Brookwood in Georgetown.  BiG is a nonprofit vocational community where adults with special needs learn to become artisans, bakers, card makers, jewelry makers and more.

Troubadour Festival moseys out of Georgetown

After its Georgetown debut last year, the Troubadour Festival will not make its way back to the city this year.  A combination barbecue and music festival, the Troubadour Festival had its inaugural event in Celina in 2021.

Doug Benold, ‘Dean of Georgetown Physicians’ dies at 98

During a long and prolific life spanning almost a century, Dr. Douglas M. Benold helped found Georgetown Hospital, start a community clinic for the underserved and integrate Georgetown public schools. Dr. Benold died Wednesday, February 15, at age 98, following a stroke.

A specialized laser procedure for men suffering from enlarged prostate complications is now offered at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital.  Prostates enlarge naturally over time, causing symptoms including difficulty urinating, a weak stream and leakage.

Light show, Market Days on Georgetown, Wilco 175th anniversary celebration schedule

Williamson County and the City of Georgetown will celebrate their 175th birthday with a two-day event March 10-11.  A formal kick off ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. March 10 on the east side of the historic courthouse. The county will host tours of the courthouse throughout the day.

Georgetown receives funds for FM 971 expansion project

The City of Georgetown received $4 million in federal funding to help expand Farm to Market Road 971, a project the city has been eying for some time.
