Giant tortoise enjoys adventure in Old Town

A giant 12-year-old African Sulcata tortoise was found wandering Old Town a few streets from the Square Thursday, December 15. The tortoise was discovered by neighbors and sequestered in a truck bed until Animal Control Officer Angela Jones was able to collect her.

Jean Norma Sears Keckler died in Georgetown on Friday, December 9 at Tiffin House Assisted Living & Memory Care. Jean was 84 years old.
She was born in Wade, Maine. The youngest of six children born to Roy and Maud Sears.

Driver killed in crash on I-35 in Georgetown Thursday morning

Georgetown Police and Fire responded to a fatal one-vehicle crash shortly before 7 a.m. on Thursday, December 15.
The crash occurred on southbound Interstate 35, just south of the State Highway 29/University Avenue overpass.

Williamson County buildings add Narcan to medical kits

Buildings operated by Williamson County received 63 boxes of Narcan in November as a life-saving measure for potential future overdose victims.
Narcan is an emergency drug used to treat opioid overdoses.
According to the county, Narcan is administered as a nasal spray.
