Update: Man arrested after fatal Georgetown shooting

Ricardo Quinones, 38, was arrested Tuesday, December 27, following a fatal shooting at 2700 Gabriel View Drive in Georgetown. According to the Georgetown Police Department, a minor called 911 at 2:52 a.m. Tuesday to report that her father — Mr.

Betty Jo Johnson, 92, of Georgetown, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, left for her heavenly home on December 20, 2022. Betty was born in Austin, Texas to Roy H. and Vivian Lyckman Johnson, both having predeceased her.  Betty graduated from Austin High School in 1948.

Herbert William Kunz, of Georgetown, passed away on December 16, 2022, at the age of 80 with his family by his side. Herbert is preceded in death by his wife, M. Elizabeth Kunz; his parents, Louise Maurer Kunz and Theodore Kunz; and siblings Carolyn Kunz Richbourg and Andrew Kunz.

Personal fireworks prohibited in Georgetown

As New Year celebrations approach, residents should remember that fireworks are not allowed in Georgetown or within 5,000 feet of its city limits unless permitted and authorized by the Georgetown Fire Department.  Violations can lead to fines of up to $2,000 per firework.

Christmas Eve service on the Square

Gather on the Square for a special Christmas Church Service on December 24. The River Rock Bible Church will host the service on the historic Williamson County Courthouse lawn at 5:30 p.m., December 24. It will be held outside on the East side, weather contingent.

A Gift of Time hosts holiday party at library

Songs, decorations and colorful costumes abounded when A Gift of Time Georgetown hosted its fourth live Camille’s Memory Café program at Georgetown Public Library.

Georgetown-Sun City Rotary Club serves holly, jolly breakfast with Santa

The Georgetown-Sun City Rotary Club’s Breakfast with Santa made a successful comeback on Saturday, December 17.  More than 850 kids, moms and dads shared a holiday breakfast of pancakes and sausage at the Georgetown Community Center.
