Georgetown city council talks new trails, pool, fire station

Georgetown invests in roads, water, public safety

Georgetown’s annual State of Our City event March 12 gave residents a glimpse into the city’s latest efforts through a talk about projects coming in 2026, water, public safety, transportation and more.

Georgetown gathers together to revive San Gabriel Park

Across two days dedicated to cleaning up San Gabriel Park, about 150 volunteers showed up to help restore the grounds after floodwaters caused damage in July.

Volunteer to clean up San Gabriel Park

Two park clean-up events will take place at San Gabriel Park on Tuesday, July 29, and Thursday, July 31, for those wanting to provide a helping hand. The event on July 29 will take place from 9-11 a.m. The July 31 event will be from 4-6 p.m.

San Gabriel River fish kill sparks concern

The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality is investigating the water quality in the San Gabriel River after dozens of fish turned up dead east of Georgetown during the last week of November.

Georgetown continues Garey Park updates, expansion

More amenities are on the way to Garey Park, as a five-year project enters its second phase. The next phase of improvements include an expansion to Garey House, changes to the park entry, an amphitheater, three group cabins, a retreat pavilion, a RV host site, parking and a play ranch.

Riverbank cleanup coming to Rivery Park

The City of Georgetown will host a riverbank cleanup event in Rivery Park on December 9.  Volunteers can check in for the event beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the city table near the playground, which is located in the middle of the park.  A safety briefing will happen at 8:55 a.m.

Land purchased for future Southeast Georgetown park

The City of Georgetown has purchased 35 acres of land in the southeastern portion of the city for a new park. The park will be located at the intersection of SE Inner Loop and Southwestern Boulevard.  The land was purchased for $6 million.
