Wilco Commissioners Court approves proposed 2024 budget

Williamson County Commissioners on August 22 unanimously approved the proposed budget for the 2024 Fiscal Year on first reading and will vote on the finalized budget and tax rate during their next meeting.
The proposed expenditures to the general fund amount for FY 2024 totals $313.4 million.

Vintage shop Florence Marketplace offers customers something new

Florence Marketplace is a vintage store selling antiques and gifts in downtown Florence. Co-owned by Justin Gibson, the space is designed using a three pronged approach.
The “Modern Mercantile” area sells giftable items like cosmetics, jewelry, candles, t-shirts and other drygoods.

Neighbors Serving Neighbors food pantry in Bartlett helps East Wilco families

Since 2019, a small effort by Bartlett resident Stephanie Myers to help neighbors in need has blossomed into a local food pantry, serving about 500 families per month.
Neighbors Serving Neighbors collects food items and goods to distribute to families in eastern Williamson County.

Williamson County Commissioners approves 84-acre plat in Weir

Williamson County Commissioners Court on August 8 approved the final plat for an 83.86-acre subdivision located on County Road 153 to County Road 156 near Weir.
According to the plat plan, the project will consist of 25 lots of estate residences. Each plot of land averages out to 3.35 acres.

73-year-old mother killed by son in Georgetown murder/suicide

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said Friday, August 11, that 52-year-old Albert Rodriguez shot and killed his mother, Sylvia Rodriguez, 73, on Thursday afternoon, August 10, and then killed himself.
The deaths took place at about 5 p.m.
