The Caring Place expands hours for food pantry

Starting on July 16, The Caring Place’s food pantry at 2000 Railroad Avenue will be open on Thursdays from 2-6 p.m. The new expanded hours are part of a pilot program aimed at improving food access, according to The Caring Place. The pantry was already open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Olson Legacy Foundation partners with food banks to fight summer hunger

By ISIS AIDE REYESThe Georgetown-based Anna+Anton Olson Legacy Foundation has launched a new April initiative that targets food insecurity across Williamson County. The “Feeding Your Neighbors Challenge” strives to meet the demand students and their families face during the summertime.

The Caring Place also provides rent, mortgage and utility assistance; clothing, housewares and furniture; laundry services; medical and transportation assistance; elder care; and case management help. Animal nonprofits prove popular for Amplify Wilco Day

In the third year of Amplify Wilco Day from Austin nonprofit I Live Here I Give Here, $1.4 million was raised for the 103 participating nonprofits throughout the county. Williamson County nonprofits made up 14 percent of nonprofit participation this year, according to I Live Here I Give Here.

Georgetown veteran gets congressional award from John Carter

Navy veteran Frank Espinosa Jr. might be well-known in town for his participation in Georgetown’s veteran groups and The Caring Place, but his community contributions were put in a spotlight in December through Representative John Carter’s Congressional Veteran Commendation Program.

Two Georgetown nonprofits combine laundry services

Laundry Love Georgetown is now working with The Caring Place to provide residents with its free laundry cleanings. Laundry Love Georgetown has offered free laundry services since 2013 at the Georgetown Washtopia on South Austin Avenue on the second Tuesday and Thursday of each month.

The Caring Place has released their wish list for the nonprofit’s Hunger Free Holidays Food Drive that takes place through December.  The Hunger Free Holiday campaign aims to fill the food pantry with the things it needs the most.  For December, The Caring Place is requesting hygiene items.

The Caring Place expands donation hours

The Caring Place will be offering expanded hours going into summer for its donations drive through, located at 2000 Railroad Avenue. Drop off will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday to match the nonprofit’s thrift store hours.
