Williamson County sees first West Nile case

The Williamson County and Cities Health District has confirmed the first human case of West Nile Virus, July 3.According to the health district, the individual is a resident in their 40s living in southern Williamson County.

County Briefs: Demolitions coming to old county jail site

Williamson County Commissioners November 5 said aspects of the historic county jail will be demolished to prepare the land for future uses. Construction crews will start removing non-historic additions around the historic Williamson County Jail.

County Briefs: Wilco resident survey to gather feedback on county services

Williamson County residents will be randomly selected to participate in a survey. During the July 16 Commissioners Court meeting, officials approved the survey to “help improve the delivery of County services and programs,” according to the survey.

West Nile virus mosquito detected in Granger

A sample of mosquitoes was collected near Colorado Street in Granger on July 25 has tested positive for West Nile virus. The positive test was indicated in lab results received on July 27 from the Texas Department of State Health Services lab in Austin.
