Georgetown water system maintenance set for July

Georgetown will conduct a chlorine wash of its water system for maintenance from July 8 through August 8, and Georgetown water customers may notice chlorine odors and a brown or green tint to their water for brief periods. These changes may be noticeable starting July 8 or 9.

Georgetown outlines plans, construction schedule for new Customer Service Center

Southwestern University is set to start infrastructure construction in September to accommodate development of the 560 acres just east of its campus on University Avenue. As a whole, the SU 560 Project will include a mix of businesses, residential, retail and hospitality space.

All Things Wild Rehabilitation Center facing surplus of rescues following thunderstorms

Thunderstorms and floods since May 19 have left the All Things Wild Rehabilitation center between Jarrell and Walburg overflowing with animals. The rescue took in 482 animals in about a two-week period. Those most affected are animals that live in the ground in dens or high up in trees.

Annunciation Maternity Home expands facility

Annunciation Maternity Home is wrapping up construction on five new homes, which will expand its reach to provide shelter and resources to additional mothers needing help.

Starting in Fiscal Year 2027, there will be a $2 increase in stormwater fees — which haven’t been raised since 2015 — to accommodate rising operations costs, capital investment, maintenance and new staff.
