Wilco Commissioners proceed with death investigator hirings

Williamson County is looking at applicants for its Death Inquest Investigators, and is entering the final administrative stages of setting up the new positions.

Gearing up Granger

Williamson County Commissioners Court approved the reorganization of American Rescue  Plan Act Funding to assist the Granger community with growing infrastructure needs. “Part of this problem is that Granger has been a sleepy little town for so long,” Granger Mayor Monica Stojanik said.

Katï Coffee roasts want to be part of community

In the industrial business park located on University Avenue, amidst much larger manufacturing and storage facilities, is the small Katï Coffee roastery. Marked by a sign advertising free coffee samples and a neon “open” sign, the roastery invites curious customers.

Guitar society receives money for education programs

The Williamson County Guitar Society received a W.D. Kelley Foundation grant that will sponsor a series of educational programs about the history, culture and music of string instruments for area students.

City looks to recoup cost of utility evaluations

Developers and residents who get water and wastewater utility evaluations from Georgetown could see higher fees in the future, as the city looks to lessen direct capital costs for the fees involved in utility evaluations.

Anything can help: Nonprofit seeks volunteers to deliver Christmas meals

Since the early 1990s, Holiday Meals Delivered has worked to make sure Georgetown households have access to gift baskets and a special holiday meal on Christmas. This year, the nonprofit is again looking for volunteers, as well as monetary donations.

GISD trustees get update on 2024 bond projects

Georgetown ISD trustees were updated on the district’s voter-approved 2024 bond program — an initiative informally tagged, “More space for ever-growing enrollment.” Lannon Heflin, GISD’s Chief of Strategic Operations presented a project report to trustees December 2 board.
