Georgetown ISD names new Richarte High School principal

Georgetown ISD trustees on April 20 named Drew Nichols as the next principal of Richarte High School, the district’s alternative high school of choice. He will assume his role at Richarte in July.Mr.

GISD names new middle school to honor segregation-era African American educator

Georgetown ISD’s new middle school will be named S.C. Marshall Middle, after the founder and principal of the Georgetown Colored High School in 1913. GISD’s new Marshall Middle School, located on Patriot Way, is under construction and will open in 2027. Trustees approved the name April 20.

The Spring Art Stroll, hosted by the City of Georgetown’s Arts and Culture Program, was help last Friday, April 17, around the Square.

River water rises with recent rain in Williamson County

A rainy week led to localized flooding across Williamson County April 21. A Flash Flood Warning was in effect until the evening.

20 residents evacuated, but only minor damage reported in Georgetown due to flash flooding threat Tuesday

Update:As of 2:15 p.m. on April 22, ATXFloods, an online database that reports water levels at low water crossings in Central Texas, reported that County Road 100 in Georgetown is still closed due to flood waters. ***Wilco’s Office of Emergency Management has not reported an update as of writing.

May election: Florence candidates vie for council seats

Florence residents can vote in the city’s council and mayoral elections on May 2, and the Florence Chamber of Commerce hosted a candidate forum Thursday, April 16, at the Florence High School cafeteria.  Florence Mayoral candidatesTwo candidates are running for mayor.

Two Step Inn sees delays, refunds for rainout

Rainclouds threatened the Two Step Inn festival all day Saturday, April 18, and when the steadily darkening clouds finally released water around 5:30 p.m., it was a deluge. Lightning and heavy rain sparked a weather delay, cancellation of several acts and eventually a weather evacuation.

Georgetown amends engineering contract for Austin Avenue, bridge work

Rehabilitation work has yet to resume on the Austin Avenue bridges, but Georgetown City Council amended a task order with engineering firm Aguirre & Fields LP in the amount of $485,593 during the April 14 council meeting.
