Robert Dabney (Bob) Lipscomb, Jr.

Robert Dabney (Bob) Lipscomb, Jr., accomplished model airplane enthusiast and father of three, grandfather of four, passed away peacefully September 29, 2022. Bob was born January 18, 1937, in Dallas to Robert Dabney and Viola King Lipscomb. He grew up in Kilgore, and graduated from Kilgore High School in 1955. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University where he was a loyal member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Following his service in the Air Force he worked as an engineer at General Dynamics in Fort Worth. He married his high school sweetheart, Sandra “Cissy” Gehlen in 1971. They moved to Houston where he started Lipscomb Engineering, Inc., a custom machine business designing and manufacturing parts for the oil and gas and other industries. In 1986, the family moved to Santa Rosa, California where he took up wine making as a hobby.

He was a devoted father and animal lover. Bob is survived by three daughters, Michele Lipscomb, Lacy Vain and Ashley Lewis and four grandchildren, Amelie Viola Flore Vain, Nicolas Dabney Thibault Vain, Dylan Carter Lewis and Marshall Dabney Lewis and two sisters, Lottie Guttry and Diane Kimmel.
