William Edward Ferrell
William Edward (Eddie) Ferrell passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, after a long bout with Alzheimer’s disease. Eddie was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on September 18, 1939, and spent most of his life in Springfield, Missouri, where he raised his family and worked the majority of his career in oil distribution prior to his retirement and move to Georgetown. He was a founding member of the Springfield Ballet serving as the first board president; and was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Eddie loved being around people, was a big sports fan and avid golfer, and especially loved spending time with his four grandkids. Ever upbeat and ready with a smile, he took great pride in his yard and liked being outdoors and especially loved firing up the grill to cook burgers or steaks for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dola May, two children, David Ferrell and his wife, Laurie of Georgetown, and Traci O’Bryan and her husband, Mark of St. Louis, Missouri, four grandchildren, Leah Ferrell, Lane Ferrell (wife Emma), Hayden O’Bryan, Tessa O’Bryan and three great-grandchildren, Tucker, Sam and John David.
A memorial service will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown on October 22 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association on his tribute page.
