Alice L. Day

Alice L. Day, 91, passed away on November 5, 2022 in Georgetown.

Alice was born in Waukegan, Illinois. She was the daughter of Franklin and Iness Frey. She graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan. After high school, she attended Hiram College for two years. Later in her life she received an associate degree in art at Kent State University in Canton, Ohio.

After her husband’s death, Alice took a trip to Colorado, bought a cabin in Lake City, and spent extended vacations the next couple of decades enjoying the Rocky Mountains. She learned to fly fish and caught and ate trout to her heart’s content. Family and friends spent time with her at the cabin, enjoying skiing, sledding, fishing, and hiking in the beauty of God’s creation in the Rockies.

Alice’s passion was for the Lord Jesus Christ. She immersed herself in daily Bible study and was a voracious reader of Christian authors. She was involved in her local church, Christ Presbyterian in Georgetown. Throughout her life she made many mission trips around the world; to Austria visiting local missionaries she supported, a couple of visits to Russia, and to a sister church in the Ukraine. Her most exhilarating trips were to a Hong Kong mission and from there smuggled Bibles into mainland China to spread the gospel to the Chinese people. In recent years until her death, she loved volunteering at the BIG campus in Georgetown, supporting and assisting the organization’s mission of helping the citizens at BIG find spiritual meaning and purpose, working and creating useful items to sell at their campus store and cafe.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 35 years, Paul A. Day, her daughter, Debra J. Dobransky, and her brother Gene Frey and his wife Joyce, and daughter-in-law Gail Day.

Alice is survived by her three sons, Daniel (Lee Anne), Douglas (Nancy), and David; her grandchildren, Jill, Adam, Jessica, Landon, Victoria, Zachary, Crystal, and Jonathon; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ava, Autumn, Abigail, Makayla, Jonathon, Jr., Mallory, Zack, Austin and Addison.

A “Celebration of Life” service for Alice will be held on November 19, 2022, at Grace Bible Church, 2100 Shell Road, Georgetown, Texas. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m. followed by a lite lunch and refreshments for all of Alice’s family and friends.
