Gloria Jane Corbett

Gloria Jane Corbett, 83, of Georgetown, Texas went into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on February 4, 2023. She was born on January 29, 1940, to Chester S. and Dorothy Kinsey in Austin, Texas, one of twelve siblings.

Gloria graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio in 1958.

Gloria is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband Edward J. Corbett, daughter, Dana Marie Corbett, brothers, Chester C. Kinsey, Harris Kinsey, Britt Kinsey, and stepsister Ruby Rizzo.

She is survived by her two sons, John Corbett of Georgetown, Texas, and Michael (Reva) Corbett of Caldwell, Texas and 7 siblings, Treva Moore, Patsy Mireles, Patricia Hall, Kay Roberts, James (Millie) Kinsey, Ronald (Laura) Kinsey, and Dottie (Ernest) Ortiz.

She married Edward Joseph Corbett on June 17, 1959, in San Antonio. She followed Ed from station to station as he pursued his Air Force career. Mississippi, Alaska, Nebraska, Virginia, Illinois, Missouri, with a number of stops in Austin, when our father had foreign assignments to the far East and Europe. She made her final stop in Austin in 1972. She lived at 10000 Chukar Circle until her and Ed built their forever home in Georgetown.

Gloria was a successful businesswoman, who owned and operated the Buddy Bear Child Learning Center located in Round Rock, Texas. In her retirement, she thoroughly enjoyed her family, especially all of her grandchildren as well as her extended family. She channeled her creative energy by becoming an avid and talented quilter. 

She was a well-loved “NaNa” to her grandchildren, Kyle Wayne Morton, Michael Mullen, Kyle Joseph Mullen, Steven Mullen, Chandler Corbett, granddaughters, Kara Mantey, Sydney Simpson, Sagan Corbett, Cassidy Corbett and great-grandchildren Elena Morton, Ellyot Morton, Kanzie Mantey, Rixton Mantey, Lincoln Mullen, and Oliver Mullen.

A visitation and rosary will be held on February 20, 2023, at 6:30-8:00 PM at Ramsey’s Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM on February 21, 2023, at Ramsey’s followed by graveside services at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

As a survivor of childhood polio, Gloria had a special place in her heart for children affected by illness and disabilities. Therefore, please make memorials to the March of Dimes (https://marchofdimes.org/donate-now) and/or Dell’s Children Hospital (https://supportdellchildrens.org) in her honor.
