Margaret Elaine McHenney passed away on February 3, 2023, in Georgetown. She was 92 years old. “Peg” was born on August 27, 1930, in her parent’s home in Horton Township, Jackson, Michigan. Peg lived in a blended family of four full siblings and two half-siblings, one from each of her parents from previous marriages. Peg was a wife and mother of five, and after her younger three children entered grade school she worked as a nurse’s aid in the obstetrics ward at Albion Hospital in Albion Michigan. She also graduated from Jackson Community College in Jackson, Michigan with an A.S. degree in business administration. She worked in healthcare most of her life, caring for others. She loved to drink a little coffee with her cream for relaxation.
Peg was very proud of her children. She encouraged each of them to pursue an education and to strive for excellence. All five attended college. Two earned advanced degrees, one earned two separate degrees, and two served in the military as their father once did in WWII. She was happily married for 63 years to “Ray”, Raymond J. McHenney.
Peg is survived by her five children (Monica, Mary, Margaret, Raymond Mark, and Molly), six grandchildren (Jacob Kessler, Kayla McHenney, Jonathan McHenney, Ryan Kessler, Brooke Sawyer, and Michael McHenney), and one sibling (Helen Pohl).
A private family gathering will be planned for Spring to place Peg’s urn next to Ray’s, where he is waiting for her to join him, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
