Charles A. Petru Jr.

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we gather to remember and honor the life of Charles A. Petru Jr., a beloved soul who peacefully passed away on July 6, 2023, at the age of 82. Born on November 9, 1940, in Raymondville, Texas, Charles was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and unwavering faith.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Vera; his loving daughter, Janice Bowman; and his adored grandchildren: Brittney Bowman, Brandan Bowman, and Bailey Bowman. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his siblings: Ben Petru and wife Lois, Dorothy Perry, Ed Petru and wife Dorothy, and Larry Petru and wife Brenda; numerous nieces and nephews; and nine Godchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Petru; father, Charles Petru Sr.; and his brothers: Clem Petru and Laddie Petru; and brother-in-law, Ward Perry.

A man of great integrity and deep spiritual conviction, Charles embraced Catholic education and graduated from St. John’s Junior Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. His faith guided him through all aspects of his life, providing him with strength, compassion, and a steadfast moral compass.

Charles also answered the call to serve his country and proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1962 to 1968. His dedication to duty and commitment to protecting the freedoms we hold dear, will forever be remembered and honored.

After his military service, Charles embarked on a successful career in construction material sales. In 1974, he founded his first business Alpha Hot Tubs & Spas in Houston, Texas. In 1995, he became the Founder and CEO of Bowman Construction and Bowman Outdoor Living in Georgetown, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of excellence and craftsmanship with masonry projects throughout Williamson County.

In his personal life, Charles found solace and inspiration in his faith community. He was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Helen’s Catholic Church, where he served weekly overnight hours in the Adoration Chapel for more than 20 years.

When not immersed in his work or spiritual pursuits, Charles enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He found joy in spending time with his family, cheering on the Texas Longhorns Football, Baseball, Softball and Basketball teams, and engaging in meaningful conversations with friends and loved ones.

We invite you to join us in paying tribute to Charles during the visitation on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Recitation of the Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jarrell, Texas, followed by a grave side service at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery.

Together, we will seek solace, find strength, and honor the life of a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Helen’s Catholic School, the Holy Trinity Catholic Church building fund, the Association of Marian Helpers in Stockbridge, or the Tunnel to Towers organization. These acts of generosity will carry forward Charles’ legacy of compassion and service to others.

As we mourn the loss of Charles, we find solace in the memories he leaves behind. His legacy of faith, dedication, patriotism, and love will forever be etched in our hearts. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all.
