Glenda Mae Carter Simank
Glenda Mae Carter Simank
Glenda Mae Carter Simank, 82, of Georgetown, Texas. passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on July 3, 2025. The wonderful people of Austin Hospice and her three children and two nieces also helped her along her journey.
Glenda was born to Jewel and Alton Carter of Georgetown Texas. in 1942. She was raised in Georgetown and graduated from Georgetown High School. She grew up in the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store and then the L&M Cafe. She knew everyone in town and never forgot a name. Glenda worked for AT&T and Southwestern Bell, and retired after 35 years. She was an amazing sales lady and during those years at the telephone companies she sold Avon, Home Interior, and Sarah Coventry, not to forget hundreds of boxes of Girl Scout cookies, as she was a troop leader and also helped with the Boy Scouts. She also trained and volunteered with the Georgetown Police and Austin Police Victim Services, with which she absolutely loved going on the ride-a-longs and helping others. Glenda also worked at the Southwestern University as a dispatcher and telephone operator. After her retirement she worked for the Georgetown ISD first as an after school care aid for parents that worked late. She then transferred over to the bus barn and was a bus aid on the special needs buses and retired from that also. Glenda never met a stranger and could talk all day at work and then come home and talk all night. She loved to read and always said she was going to write a book about her little town. It would have been a best seller.
Glenda was preceded in death by a baby brother, James Carter, and her parents Jewel Guthrie Carter and Alton Carter, also her sister Nelda Carter Burson and brother-in-law Charles "Hoss" Burson, and their son Scott Burson.
Glenda is survived by her three children in chronological order: Brent Keese and fiancé Penny Creed; Stephanie Simank Pavlasek and her two children, Dustin Pavlasek and Leslie Pavlasek, and their father Wayne Pavlasek; and Glenda's youngest son Johnny Carter Alton Simank as well as her two nieces Carolyn Burson Dunk and Julie Burson McCammon and their families.
Services will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Dr. Georgetown, TX 78633. A visitation will be on Wednesday, July 9th, from 6 to 8pm. The funeral will be on Thursday, July 10th, at 10am.
