Dennis Swanda
Dennis Swanda, age 88, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on August 22, 2025. Dennis was born in Bramand, Nebraska, to Methodious & Agnes (Helman) Swanda on April 11, 1937.
He went to school at Holy Trinity Grade School; Brainard High School in Brainard, Nebraska, and attended the University of Nebraska. He married Janet (Slama) on August 29, 1959, at St. Anthony Church in Columbus Nebraska.
He served in the army at Siegelsbach Army Depot in Germany. He was a mechanical sales engineer and worked at Nebraska Boiler Company and Deltak Boiler Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He traveled much of the United States and several parts of the World during this time.
Dennis is preceded in death by sons, Greg and Steve; his parents Method and Agnes (Helman) Swanda; brothers Ken and Donald; sisters La Verne (Meister) and Mary Lou (Schott).
Dennis is survived by wife Janet (Slama) Swanda; daughter Suzanne (Swanda) and Jeff Stang; grandchildren Adam Swandaand Katie (Swanda) & Paul Racine; great grandson Logan Racine; Sister Maxine (Swanda) & Jerry Hain; Niece Judy (Schott) & Brad Watson: Grand nieces Lindsey (Watson) and Jonathon Shaffer: Whitney Watson; and Great Grand Nephew Kash Shaffer and many Nieces and Nephews.
Dennis was an avid fly fisherman fishing in streams and rivers in several states. When he wasn’t fishing he was tying flies. Time stood still for him at those times. He also loved playing golf and watching it on TV. He was an exceptional handyman- if it was broken he knew how to fix it and if he didn’t have something he made it.
Dennis was a loving husband & caring father with a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. on September 18, 2025, at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown ( Ramsey.Funeral.com )
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. September 19, at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Andice, Texas, with Fr. Larry Stehling officiating. Burial will follow, at a later date, at Holy name of Jesus Cemetery in Wayzata, Minnesota.
