Ira Don Marchbanks

Ira Don Marchbanks, 85, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on September 30, 2025, after a courageous three-year battle with leukemia. He was born on July 27, 1940, in Seagraves, Texas, to Brom and Bula Mae Marchbanks.

Ira grew up in Seminole, Texas, where he graduated from Seminole High School in 1958. During his school years, he was active as a photographer, cheerleader, scout and football manager, while also working at local businesses. His years in the Boy Scouts — where he earned the Star rank and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow — shaped his lifelong values of service, teamwork and leadership.

After attending Sul Ross College in Alpine, Ira met and married the love of his life, Reba Clorese Stevenson. He went on to build a 34-year career with Shell Oil Company in Denver City, Texas. His work with Shell took him and his family through 10 moves across four different states, but no matter where they lived, Ira was intentional about building community through faith and becoming part of a local church.

Together, Ira and Reba built a life grounded in devotion to God, love for one another and commitment to their family. Ira was known for his integrity, kindness and generosity of spirit. His greatest joy was found in his wife, children and grandchildren, whose lives reflect his lasting influence. For the past 24 years, Ira and Reba were blessed to be members of the Georgetown Church of Christ, a community they dearly loved.

He is survived by his brother, Joe Ike (Marcella) Marchbanks, his beloved wife, Reba Marchbanks, daughters Denise (Adam) Black and Leigh Ann (Mike) Hart, grandchildren Elise (Michael) Shea, Julia (Hector) Escobar, Grant Nerove, Calvin (Elia) Nerove, Laura Kate (Drew) Yarbrough and Autumn Nerove, and great-grandchildren Isabella, Arya, Valentina, Juniper and Hector Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Travis Nerove.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, October 7, at 1 p.m., also at Ramsey Funeral Home.

Ira Don will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
