Albert (Al) Wayne Schoonover
Albert (Al) Wayne Schoonover, born May 1, 1939, in Nehalem, Oregon, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Cornerstone Hospital with his wife, Ann (Kay) Morgan and her daughter, Julia, by his side. Al had two careers during his lifetime with 22 1/2 years in the U.S. Army and afterward 27 years as an agent for New York Life Insurance. Even though a shorter span, Al was most proud of his military service where he received numerous commendations and medals. He was a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable with New York Life. In his earlier life, Al was active in his church, the Rotary Club and other civic organization.
Al was an avid collector of antique firearms and memorabilia and he and Kay frequently traveled to gun shows to display his collection. In 2010, the lure of leisure travel and desire to escape the Texas heat brought them to purchase the first of two 40’ diesel motorhomes and they traveled north to south and coast to coast. In Maine, they ate lobster until they couldn’t stand another bite and took many pictures throughout so as to relive some of their fondest memories.
In addition to his wife, Kay, Al is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Jo Schoonover, daughter, Gabi Toole and step-daughters, Julia Hostetter, husband, Jack, and Susan Morgan.
Grandchildren include Joshua Schoonover, Matthew Schoonover and wife, Sarah, Emma Crisp, and husband, Cris, Michael Toole and wife, Amber, and Jennifer Toole. Step-grandchildren are Jason Halbert and wife, Rachel, Joshua Moore and wife, Kasee, and Kyle Morgan. Great-grandchildren are Matthew’s daughters, Maddie and Caroline, Emma’s sons, Cayden, Rayden, and James and Michael’s sons, Torin, Liam, and Quinlan. Step-greatgrandchildren are Jason’s daughters, Maddie and Gennavie and Joshua Moore’s son and daughter, Damien and Lalani.
Al is also survived by his brother, James Schoonover and wife, Hilda, who live in Graham, Washington. They have two daughters, Linda Tevis and Dianna Lynch. Linda’s children, David Tevis and wife, Angela, have a son Reagan, and Ryan Tevis and wife, Ashley, are parents to Adn. Dianna’s daughter, Chantal, and son-in-law, Christopher have three children, James, Bailey, and Avery. Al’s sister, Ruth, and brother-in-law, John, live in Delta, British Colombia, Canada, along with their daughter, Heather, significant other David and daughter, Adrianna.
Visitation for Mr. Schoonover will be Sunday, October 9, at 1 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas.
