Elias Ramos Martinez, Sr.

Elias Ramos Martinez, Sr., 90, of Georgetown, passed away on January 18, 2023.

Elias was the second youngest of eight born on July 27, 1932, to Alfonso Sr. and Concha Martinez in Gouldbust. After Elias graduated from Coleman High School, he enlisted in the United States Army in December of 1952. Elias was a veteran of the Korean War receiving a Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star, a Combat Infantryman Badge, a United Nations Service Medal for Korea, and a National Defense Service Medal all while enlisted. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Army in October of 1954.

In 1955, Elias met Angelita (Angie) Martinez in Morton. Elias and Angie went on to have five children — Vickie, Patricia, Diane, Eli Jr., and Jennifer. They resided in Hart, for over 30 years before moving to Plainview, then eventually to Georgetown in 2007. Elias held many titles in life but most notably as the Process Plant Director for H&S Produce in Hart and owner and landlord of M&M Mobile Home Park in Plainview. 

Once retired, Elias spent much of his time with his family, was an avid golfer, loved to travel, hunted and fished, and would always have something to repair in his workshop. He is survived by his wife, Angie; their children Vickie, Patricia (husband Tim), Diane, Eli Jr., (wife Candy) and Jennifer (husband Marc); his seven grandchildren; Brandon, Adriano (wife Debbie), JD, Devin (wife Demi), Joshua, Isabella, and Wesley; his four great-grandchildren Johnny, Braxton, James, and Elijah. 

Vigil and Rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 25, from 6 - 8 p.m., at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Georgetown. The family will receive guests with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass and burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery.
