George Jefferson Collins, Jr. (Jerry)

George Jefferson Collins, Jr. (Jerry), age 85, passed away peacefully on Feb. 9, 2026, at his home in Georgetown, Texas.

He was born May 29, 1940, in Houston, Texas, son of the late George Jefferson Collins, Sr. and Lena Nadine Waymire.

Jerry proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a member of the Freemasons, worked as a Lineman for HL&P and retired from PrintMailers Inc in 2005. Away from work, Jerry was known as a thoughtful, loving husband, father (Pop), great friend, proud native Texan, Houston Astros fan, handyman, amazing woodworker, toymaker and beloved Pepaw.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Cothran; son, Wade Collins; grandson, Cody Collins; sister, Joan Huff; niece, Leslie Huff.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Deborah Collins; son and daughter-in-law, David and Shannon Collins of Spring, Texas; stepdaughter, Dr. Emily Hunter and her husband Louis of Waco, Texas; stepdaughter, Dr. Kat Watson and her husband Drew Harvey of Kingsville, Texas; grandchildren: Spencer Collins and his wife Martiza Collins, Tucker Collins, Stephanie Collins, Megan Gamboa, Jacob Collins, Audrey Hunter, Andy Hunter, Adler Harvey, Liam Harvey; 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild; nephew, Kyle Huff and his wife Suzanne; other family members and many friends who will miss him greatly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 1, 2026, at 2 pm at the Heritage at Vizcaya event center, 5000 Pietra Ln, Round Rock, Texas 78665. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jerry’s memory to Hospice Austin.  https://www.hospiceaustin.org/
