At the age of 82, Janie was embraced by her heavenly Father in her new home on March 6, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
In heaven, she joins her parents Lester and Mamie Ray; in-laws D.D. and Virginia Giddens; five sisters: Alice, Margie, Dorris, Ruth and a baby sister; four brothers: Clyde, Wayne, Morris and baby brother Lester; son-in-law Ben Goodwin, great-grandson Tiny Hollingshead and many other friends and relatives.
She is survived by husband Roger; four children: Peggy Goodwin, Teresa Orozco (Jesse), Donna Hernandez (John), Kenneth (Kay); 12 grandchildren and spouses, 23 great-grandchildren; sister Martha Butler (Dennis); in-laws Joanie Tuttle, Shirley Schneider and Butch Giddens, many beloved nieces and nephews to list and an abundance of friends.
Janie was a member of Promiseland Church for over 60 years. She was a Sunday School teacher, prop maker, fund-raiser and participant in many other events held there. She worked at IRS for 25 years and loved to travel.

The funeral will be on Monday, March 13, at 10 a.m. at Promiseland Church, 1504 East 51st Street, Austin. Visitation will be Sunday March 12, 4-8 p.m. at Cook-Walden-Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown.
