Leona Innmon Morris

Leona Innmon Morris passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022, in Georgetown. Leona was born on May 13, 1932, in Liberty Hill, the daughter of Anthony Smith Innmon and Etta Shepherd Innmon. She was born on the Innmon home place in Williamson County that had been in the family since 1868.

She was married to Wallace Morris in 1952 in Georgetown, and they remained married for 27 years until his death in 1979. They lived in Bryan for a short while then returned to Georgetown where they spent the remainder of their lives. They had two children and were very active in their children’s lives.

Leona worked in Human Resources at Southwestern University until her retirement in 1994. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed quilting and needlepoint. She gifted her family members with handmade quilts made especially for them. She loved cooking and searching for that special recipe.

After her retirement, Leona enjoyed being a part of Christ Lutheran Church quilters group and volunteering at the Caring Place. She was always available for her six granddaughters at any time.

Leona is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Carroll Innmon, Earl Innmon and William Tony “Dub” Innmon.

She is survived by her sister, Earlene Dorsa, daughter, Donna Bunte (Bobby), son, Gary Morris (Rose), granddaughters, Catherine Delong (Michael), Amber Nickerson (Paul), Brandi Bankhead (Luke), Kristy Morris (Eddie), Courtney Bunte (Scott) and Hope James (Noah). Seven great-grandsons, Kaedin, Liam, Caleb, Gannon, Corbin, Ferrin, Easton, and one great-granddaughter Denver. Sister-in-laws Lillian Innmon, Margie Hamilton, Barbara Gunn and many loved nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Leona’s caregivers, Virginia Morris and Loretta Sedwick. They would also like to thank the staff of Tiffin House Assisted Living and Memory Care for the loving care and support they provided. We also thank Jill and Carrie of Suncrest Hospice for their care, support, and comfort they provided.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 11 a.m. at IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown.

The family has asked that memorial donations be made to Christ Lutheran.
