LeRoy Galen Brotzman

LeRoy Galen Brotzman, age 80, went to join his beloved Paula in heaven on Monday morning, January 30, 2023, at Ignite Medical Resort in Round Rock, Texas.  LeRoy was born on May 17, 1942, as the sixth of seven children to Galen and Julia Johnston Brotzman in Durand, Wisconsin, and grew up on the family dairy farm on Spring Creek. As a young boy, he developed a keen appreciation for the outdoors and became an avid hunter and fisherman which he enjoyed his entire life.

LeRoy felt his duty to his country and served in the United States Army from November 1, 1960 to November 1, 1963. He spent thirty-one months in the Transportation Corp in Germany where he earned the Battalion Soldier of the Month award. After returning from Europe, LeRoy began working as a machinist in Lake City, Minnesota. On November 1, 1964, he met the love of his life, Paula Jean Amendolar after a Packers/Vikings football game and they were married on February 20, 1965. They enjoyed over 55 years together, welcoming 31 foster children into their home and adopting two children of their own. LeRoy was employed by IBM in various roles for over 30 years that led he and Paula on many adventures as they moved from Wisconsin to Mississippi, Tennessee and eventually to Texas. 

LeRoy professed to serve the Lord at Fosters, Alabama in 1973 and remained faithful the rest of his life. LeRoy and Paula were active after retirement in 1995, traveling far and wide in their RV, and enjoying many fishing and hunting trips to Minnesota and Wisconsin. He was a great friend to many.

LeRoy is survived by his sons; Tom (Misty) Brotzman, Brian Brotzman; grandchildren, Thomas (Sierra) Brotzman, Mackenzie Brotzman, Kaitlynn Brotzman, Zach Brotzman, Korbyn Brotzman and Jeremy Brotzman; great-grandchild Gracelyn Brotzman; sister, Jackie Christner; sister-in-law Michelle Majerus; brother-in-law Mike Amendolar; three nieces, six nephews and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Paula Jean; parents, Galen and Julia; brothers, George (Flora), Gene (Barb), Jim (Mary); sisters Lois (Bob) Everson and Dorothy (Carroll) Lewis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16 from 10-11 a.m., Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel  followed by a 12 p.m. reception at the Walburg Community Center (4000 FM 972, Georgetown, Texas, 78626), with burial at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery at 3 p.m.
