Nancy Sharon Elam, 79, of Georgetown passed peacefully with family by her side on February 6, 2023. She was born on December 26, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Fred and Shirley (Scheuren) Horenstein.
Nancy was raised in Milwaukee but moved to Vermont at the start her long career with IBM. After 28 years with the company, she retired in 1995. Nancy married Bob Elam, the love of her life, on September 24, 1999, at their home on Malletts Bay in Colchester, Vermont. They were sweethearts for over 30 years. In 2011, Nancy and Bob permanently relocated to Sun City to be closer to family.
Nancy cherished her family and friends and enjoyed a robust social life in Sun City. She was a life-long cat lover and will be missed by her kitties, Ginger and Coal. Cruises were Nancy’s favorite means of travel. She and Bob felt fortunate in their retirement years to have taken numerous extended cruises with many of their dear friends. Nancy frequently volunteered her time and skills to charitable organizations. Her kindness, generosity, inquisitive nature, and charm will be missed by all.
Nancy is survived by her nieces, Cindy (Ken) Bourassa and Lisa (Lohnny) Lotz; brothers-in-law, Ron Pranke, Ken Jaskolski and Jim Elam; stepson, David (Lisa) Elam; stepdaughters, Liz Elam and Teri (Jay) Piersall; grandchildren, Richard, Sarah and David Piersall as well as many other family members and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, and sisters, Cheryl Pranke and Diane Jaskolski.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home, at 5600 Williams Drive in Georgetown on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 10 a.m. followed by a reception.
