Sue Ailene Winn

Sue Ailene Winn passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, in Georgetown, Texas, at the age of 84, following a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer’s. She was born on August 10, 1940, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, to Ed and Becky Winn.

Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of Christ. She attended Abilene Christian College, where she began dating Jim Osborn. They married in 1959 and spent 45 loving years together, raising two children and working in ministry. Together, they served churches across the U.S. and abroad, including through the Marriage Encounter program.

After Jim’s passing in 2005, Sue moved to Texas to be near family. She later married Bill Powell in 2011, and they enjoyed 13 joyful years of marriage, travel, and service with the Georgetown Church of Christ. Sue’s legacy includes her passion for helping others, her deep faith, and her treasured “Granma’s Sugar Cookies” enjoyed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—each of whom she lovingly called her “favorite.”

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, and son Mike Osborn. She is survived by her husband Bill Powell, daughter Cammy Hall (Philip), daughter-in-law Patricia Osborn, stepson Curtis Powell, sister Marsha Harper, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many beloved extended family members.

The family would like to thank the memory care staff at The Delaney in Georgetown and Concho Hearts Hospice for their loving care in her final weeks.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgetown Church of Christ or Lifeline Chaplaincy.

A memorial service will be held June 14 at 1 p.m. at the Georgetown Church of Christ.
