Georgetown to close city offices, facilities for the holidays

Georgetown city offices and facilities are closing this month in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holiday.  Closures will take place December 23 and 26, as well as Monday, January 2, at the following locations:  City Hall, 808 Martin Luther King Jr.

Giant tortoise enjoys adventure in Old Town

A giant 12-year-old African Sulcata tortoise was found wandering Old Town a few streets from the Square Thursday, December 15. The tortoise was discovered by neighbors and sequestered in a truck bed until Animal Control Officer Angela Jones was able to collect her.

Jean Norma Sears Keckler died in Georgetown on Friday, December 9 at Tiffin House Assisted Living & Memory Care. Jean was 84 years old.  She was born in Wade, Maine. The youngest of six children born to Roy and Maud Sears.

Driver killed in crash on I-35 in Georgetown Thursday morning

Georgetown Police and Fire responded to a fatal one-vehicle crash shortly before 7 a.m. on Thursday, December 15. The crash occurred on southbound Interstate 35, just south of the State Highway 29/University Avenue overpass.  In a statement released at about 9:45 a.m.

Williamson County buildings add Narcan to medical kits

Buildings operated by Williamson County received 63 boxes of Narcan in November as a life-saving measure for potential future overdose victims.  Narcan is an emergency drug used to treat opioid overdoses.  According to the county, Narcan is administered as a nasal spray.
