Dear Sun Staff: What’s the latest with the construction on the Austin Avenue vehicle bridge? I noticed the construction work has stopped. Answer: According to the city’s communication manager Keith Hutchinson, there was an overpour of concrete on the bridges.

Georgetown Police Department sees more calls for service

Despite the total calls for service from the Georgetown Police Department going up 4.25 percent in 2025, the total number of Group A offenses — which include murder, rape, assault, robbery, theft, fraud and drug charges – were down 7.

East View High School advances to basketball playoffs after win vs. Georgetown

East View’s varsity basketball team closed out its 2026 regular season with a win over in-town rivals Georgetown High School 58-48 Tuesday night, bringing the team’s record to 24-9 on the year. Georgetown’s record fell to 11-23.The win sends East View to the playoffs this season.

Something new is coming to one of Georgetown’s historic downtown sites. The Williamson County commissioners on February 10 sold the Main Street property that houses the county’s 137-year old Historic Jail during the February 10 meeting.
