Littlest cheerleader shines on the field

Under the lights of Birkelbach Field, a little girl’s dream came true this weekend. Gigi Martinez, a second grader at Mitchell Elementary School and a cancer survivor, became an honorary East View High School cheerleader at the October 28 Patriots’ varsity football game.

More than 101,000 have voted so far

Early voting for the November General Election began October 24 and runs through Friday, November 4, at select polling locations across Williamson County.

GoGeo expands services

Georgetown residents 65 and older can once again turn to GoGeo to get around town. The city’s paratransit service has expanded its curb-to-curb services to include older adults. Transportation services can be requested by eligible riders from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

New mural installed in Taylor

Rachel Martin completed a new mural in Potter's Alley in Taylor. “Please come check it out and take photos with it. It’s my little love letter to Taylor, Texas, and the people who inspired the mural,” she said. Ms. Martin has been a member of Taylor Public Arts since March 2021.

Wilco projects on D. B. Wood Road, University Boulevard progress

Commissioners Tuesday heard a road bond project update from Robert Daigh, senior director of infrastructure for Williamson County. Precinct 1 Construction began on Ranch to Market Road 620 at Railroad and Chisholm Trail, from the Interstate 35 frontage road to Deep Wood Drive.

Five candidates up for two Jarrell ISD board seats

Five candidates are vying for two places on the Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees in the November 11 election. Places 5 and 7 are on the ballot. Candidates for Place 5 are incumbent Tamara Dozier and Humberto Carbajal. In Place 7, candidates are incumbent Rebecca Kirby, Ginger Martinez and Sherry K.

Arbor Day approaches

Texas Arbor Day is coming up on November 4, just in time to kick off tree planting season. Many of the cities in Williamson County are celebrating Texas Arbor Day with tree planting events, so be sure to look up your local city information to find out how to participate.
